Romantic Villanelle
A collaboration with the poet and artist Liz Finch
Exhibited in 1999 at The Brighton Festival and The Electric Palace Hastings and in 2016 at the Kino Teatr
This installation was one of my first ventures into using video as an expressive media form as far back as 1998. Having being set the task of writing an essay on a media studies course in Sussex I chose to research art film as a genre for an essay on the subject. It was during this time that I discovered a treasure trove of practitioners including Jean Cocteau and Derek Jarman to name a few. For the first time I was exposed to the idea of poetry and film combined to evoke emotion and narrative through visual ambiguity
